"Markus, please," he says; he bends down, presses his lips to Markus' forehead, prays his temporal processors will kick on. "We're so close," he whispers. Connor doesn't believe there's a god for androids, but if there is, then Ra9, let them cross this border. Nothing's gone right so far, and all he wants is this one little thing. Please, he thinks. Please.
To his relief, Markus awakens, his synapses gasping.
"Connor," he croaks. "You should run."
"No." Connor grabs Markus by his shoulders; always stubborn, that's what Hank would have said. "We go together or we go down together."
Connor inches forward, his eyes on the border more than the thundering guns ever-peppering their heels.
Just a few steps further. Just...a...few...more...steps......
