This community was created to be a place where DBH fans can talk about the game, the characters, headcanons, and anything else they want. All ships are valid here. Art, fic, and meta are all welcome!
I'm working on a FAQ post, but one important note for tumblr refugees: the tagging system is different on Dreamwidth! Accounts, including communities like this, are limited to a certain number of tags. Since this community is a free account, we're limited to 1000 tags.
I know we're all used to expressing ourselves in tags, and I hate to take away that option. :( But there are many other ways to express oneself on posts here, from choice of icon, to mood, location and music tags, to other interesting things you'll discover as you go. :)
The upshot is, you can only use tags at this comm that have been approved by moderators. I know, I know, you love your tags! If you want us to add a tag, please add a comment to this post. To see all currently available tags, go here.

I have about five DBH fics now, but only one of them is finished--so I should probably share that one. :D It's short, but I'm still very happy with it. I got to write a snarky, compassionate Markus, a remorseful Leo, an adorable Connor, and the rest of the crew to give them all a hard time (Bless, North, honestly).

While he’d help pave the way for android rights, there was little to be done for things of the past. No matter what his relationship with Carl had been, on paper and in legal matters, Markus had no claim to the man or his relations.
As far as far as the hospital was concerned, Leo and Markus might as well have been strangers.
“Thank you,” Markus said, nodding to the nurse that had led him to the ICU. Hank had been moved to a regular room earlier that morning, so Markus did not see Connor on his way. He felt grateful that Lieutenant Anderson was healing well, not only for the older man’s health, but because it meant Markus was alone with his thoughts. The temptation to call Connor for support was still there, but he had to do this alone. Markus spared the nurse one more smile before he asked to be alone. “I appreciate it.”
“Of course, sir,” the nurse said, eyes alight with admiration. “Let me know if you need anything.”
“I will.”
His fellow android left, leaving Markus in the doorway of Leo’s room. He counted to ten in his head before he dared to turn around and look. Markus took a step inside and gripped his hands into fists at his side.

Leo looked like Carl.

New mod needed
glymrHello, my friends and fellow D:BH fans.
First, I must apologize for having gone radio silent for months. It's the sort of thing I hate doing, and I feel terrible about it. I really wanted to make this community work, but I just haven't had the energy to make it happen, and I should have admitted that to all of you months ago.
I'm not going to disband the community or anything, but I fear it will continue to languish going forward unless someone else wants to jump in. If anyone wants to step up, please let me know and I'll be more than happy to hand you the reins. Feel free to continue to post to it, as I know there are a few people still following it, and fans can find each other through it.
I still love D:BH, but other fandoms have started eating me alive, recently, so I likely won't post much here. But I really, really appreciated all of your participation and the drabbles you wrote for the drabble-a-thon. <3 Thank you so much, you guys are the best.

This one is for Kara and Alice. I never liked how the whole "reveal" was handled in canon. It doesn't hold up in a second play-through, and quite frankly barely holds up on the first run. So I tweaked canon a little bit.

I stared playing D:BH a little late, back in January. And it hit all of my buttons, and it inspired me, and I've been tinkering on a little fanfic that grew into some sort of unwieldy massive beast.
This fic is basically me saying to myself, BUT WHAT HAPPENED NEXT? And I couldn't find any fic that really answered that question the way I wanted it answered, so here we are.

I loved this take on the idea of Connor as a domestic android. Also, very nice job what my friend and I called "side-shadowing" - that is, referencing original canon in an AU without being too heavy handed about it. There were a lot of great sideshadow touches.
P.S. I've been putting up a lot of Hank/Con recs because that's what I've been reading, but I'd love to see some for other pairings!

In the future, Detroit has been completely hollowed out as life there grew further towards the suburbs. No one lives in the city center anymore, buildings standing vacant, pieces of decades past left untouched for years.
It’s night and Hank’s too drunk to drive but he’s driving anyway, the opposite direction of where he needs to be going, to these dark, old parts of the city. He passes the last functioning streetlight into a half darkness, the moon illuminating the ice on the road that his headlights can’t reach. He swerves off the road, smashing into a tree growing through a gap in the concrete, stumbles out into the rain, and falls to his knees, too sick of himself to stand.
He thinks he’ll just lay there, let the rain freeze over him in the dark . . . except he sees a light at the end of the road. He pulls himself up and stumbles towards it, curious why there would be a light so deep in the city. He finds a window glowing from the front of an old factory building, white paint peeling off of brick, except the longer he looks at it, the more the building seems wrong, nicer than a factory, closer to a large townhouse maybe.

I'd like to make up for it by sharing this really EXCELLENT HankCon video with you all!
Apparently this is loosely based on a fanfic. I can't speak to the quality of the story, as it's yet unfinished and I've been trying not to read unfinished works (I can hardly keep up with the finished ones! I feel so lucky to be part of this fandom!) However, I've been OBSESSED with this video for the past couple of days, I just keep re-watching it. It's excellent!

In my last rec I talked about wanting to see Connor deal with the guilt of having been the Deviant Hunter.
Be careful what you wish for, folks!
This story takes us on a journey through Connor's and Hank's issues, both of which are heavily informed by the author's own journey with moral OCD. Connor must deal with extremely negative emotions, in the form of (among other things) a banner projected across his view which literally tells him things like "YOU ARE NOT GOOD" and "YOU CANNOT BE FORGIVEN".
I won't lie, it's not always an easy read. I ended up with tears stinging my eyes after reading some of the chapters (not full on gross sobbing, just a little sting). But the author always brings it back around to something happy and positive, which I really, really loved. They balance awful things with healing in a really excellent way. There's real hope underlying everything, even when things are extremely dark. They talk about their own personal philosophy in the notes, and it's one I can really get behind.
Mind the tags, and know that there is suicidal ideation on both Connor's and Hank's parts in this, as well as a LOT of negative self-talk. But if you can make it through that, you are in for a well-written, emotional journey that's very much worth taking.

The idea behind this challenge is to create Detroit: Become Human fanworks for as many of the prompts on this list as possible. Multiple fills of the same prompt are encouraged! No one is going to hunt you down if you fill prompt 65 and two other people have already, trust me. :) I will do my best to keep track and link completed fills, but I only have so much time, so I may be slow in keeping everything updated. ^_^;
When you write a fill for one of these prompts, please leave a comment on this post stating which number you filled and including a link to where we can find the fill (ie on AO3 or your DW journal or whatever.) If it's a short fill, like up to 300 words or so, you can leave it directly in a comment if you like - just don't forget to mention which number you're filling! There's no limit on how short or long a fill can be, you can make it as short as a sentence or two or as long as a couple of novels.
